Born Manuel Bueno Cabral on February 5, 1940, in Sevilla, he grew up with a deep passion for football and quickly made a name for himself in the youth ranks of Cádiz CF. His talent as a forward earned him a move to Real Madrid in 1959, where he would spend more than a decade contributing to one of Europe’s most dominant sides.

Although he often played in the shadow of the iconic Paco Gento — one of Spain’s greatest ever wingers — Bueno became known for his skill, intelligence, and team-first attitude. Despite limited appearances due to stiff competition, he helped Real Madrid to multiple La Liga titles, European Cups, and other trophies during the club’s golden era.

After leaving Real Madrid in 1971, he had a brief spell with Sevilla FC and eventually returned to Cádiz before retiring from professional football. Fans and former teammates remember him not just for his achievements on the pitch, but also for his warm personality and dedication to the sport.

Tributes from the Spanish football community and supporters poured in on social media and in local press, praising his competitive spirit and calling him a “true gentleman of the game.”

Manolín Bueno’s legacy will live on in the history of Spanish football — a player who, with humility and passion, helped shape one of the sport’s most storied eras.
