Gore was widely respected in baseball not for traditional hitting statistics but for his lightning‑fast baserunning and defensive skills. Despite only recording 85 plate appearances over eight MLB seasons, he stole 43 bases and became a trusted late‑game pinch‑running specialist.
Born in Macon, Georgia, Gore was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 20th round of the 2011 MLB Draft and made his debut in 2014. Over his career, he also played for the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, and New York Mets.

He was part of three World Series championship teams — with the Royals in 2015, the Dodgers in 2020, and the Braves in 2021 — an extraordinary achievement for a player with such a specialized role.
Gore’s wife, Britney, shared that his death came after what was supposed to be a “simple procedure,” making the news even more heartbreaking for his family, friends, and fans. He is survived by his wife and their three children.
Tributes from teammates, opponents, and fans have poured in following the announcement, remembering Gore not just for his incredible athletic ability, but also for his joyful personality, kindness, and impact on youths he coached off the field.
