Actress Hospitalized and Urgently Seeking Kidney Donor

American actress and model Bijou Phillips, 45, is currently hospitalized and facing a critical health challenge as she urgently searches for a new kidney donor to save her life. Phillips shared that she was born with underdeveloped kidneys, a congenital condition that required her to spend the first months of her life on dialysis. In 2017, a friend generously donated a kidney, giving her several years of improved health. However, her body has since experienced complications — including a viral infection known as the BK virus — leading to rejection of the donated organ and the need for a new transplant. 

Currently under the care of specialists at UCLA Health in Los Angeles, Phillips is once again on dialysis and has issued a public plea for a living kidney donor. In her message to followers, she wrote that she’s asking not just as a patient but as a friend, sister, aunt, and most importantly as a single mother to her 11‑year‑old daughter, urging anyone who might be a compatible match to come forward. 

Support from fans and fellow celebrities has poured in since she made her condition public, with more than 1,000 potential donor volunteers reportedly stepping forward — although a compatible match has yet to be found. Doctors emphasize that time is urgent, as finding a suitable donor blood type and match is essential to allow Phillips to return to health and spend more time with her family.
