On February 18, 2026, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in New York City released a report confirming that Greene died from an accidental gunshot wound to his left armpit, which severed his brachial artery, a major blood vessel in the arm. The manner of death was officially ruled an accident, and investigators found no evidence of foul play. 

Greene’s body was discovered on December 12, 2025, after neighbors reported loud music playing in his apartment for several days. A wellness check was conducted by building staff with a locksmith, who then found him unresponsive inside his Lower East Side home. 

Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Greene built a long career as a character actor, often portraying complex villains and antagonists on screen.
